It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Michael Bliss, a respected and beloved member of the Merced community and a dedicated professional at Fluetsch & Busby Insurance. Michael passed away on July 29, 2024, at the age of 59, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, dedication, and community service.
Born on October 15, 1964, in Merced, California, Michael was a lifelong resident of the area. He graduated from Merced High School in 1982 and went on to earn a degree in Business Administration from the University of California, Merced.
Michael joined Fluetsch & Busby Insurance shortly after graduation and dedicated over three decades to the company, where he was known for his professionalism, expertise, and unwavering commitment to his clients.
Michael’s career was marked by his genuine care for the well-being of those he served. He was not just an insurance agent, but a trusted advisor and friend to many. His ability to connect with people and his passion for helping others made him a beloved figure in the Merced community.
Outside of his professional life, Michael was deeply involved in various community organizations. He was a longstanding member of the Merced Rotary Club and actively participated in numerous charitable events and local initiatives.
Michael’s generosity and community spirit touched the lives of many, and his contributions have left a lasting impact on Merced.
Michael is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Karen Bliss, and their two children, Jennifer and David. He also leaves behind his parents, Robert and Linda Bliss, his brother, Stephen Bliss, and his grandchildren,
Emily and Ethan, who were the light of his life. Michael’s family, friends, and colleagues will forever remember him for his warmth, integrity, and the positive influence he had on everyone he met.
A celebration of Michael’s life will be held on August 7, 2024, at St. Patrick’s Church in Merced, where family, friends, and community members will gather to honor his memory and share their fondest memories.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society in Michael’s name, supporting the ongoing fight against the disease that he bravely battled.
Michael Bliss’s passing is a tremendous loss to all who knew him. His life exemplified dedication, compassion, and service to others. While his absence is deeply felt, the values he embodied and the love he shared will continue to inspire and guide those who had the privilege of knowing him.
