Dwayne Hunter Obituary, Death – Tragic Hit-and-Run Incident on Chase Avenue Claims the Life of 46-Year-Old Dwayne Hunter as 21-Year-Old Trae Pratt Surrenders to Authorities Following a Three-Month Investigation:

Dwayne Hunter, a cherished 46-year-old resident of Springfield, tragically lost his life in a hit-and-run incident on Chase Avenue. Born on May 17, 1978, Dwayne was a lifelong Springfield resident known for his warm heart, dedication to his family, and passion for community service.

He graduated from Springfield High School in 1996 and worked as a supervisor at the local manufacturing plant, where he was admired for his leadership and kindness.

The incident occurred on the evening of April 15, 2024. Dwayne was walking home from a neighborhood meeting when he was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.

Despite the prompt response from emergency services, Dwayne succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. His sudden and tragic death left his family, friends, and the entire community in shock and mourning.

After a thorough three-month investigation, authorities identified the driver as 21-year-old Trae Pratt. On July 28, 2024, Pratt surrendered to the police, facing charges of vehicular manslaughter and leaving the scene of an accident.

Pratt’s surrender brought a sense of closure to the grieving community, but also raised awareness about the devastating consequences of reckless driving and the importance of accountability.

Dwayne is survived by his beloved wife, Laura Hunter, and their two children, Michael and Rachel. He also leaves behind his parents, Samuel and Margaret Hunter, and his sister, Denise Hunter. Dwayne’s family and friends remember him as a loving husband, devoted father, and loyal friend who always put others before himself.

A memorial service will be held on August 5, 2024, at Springfield Community Church, where those who knew and loved Dwayne will gather to celebrate his life and legacy. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) in Dwayne’s honor, to support efforts to prevent similar tragedies.

Dwayne Hunter’s death is a profound loss to all who knew him. His life was a testament to the values of compassion, integrity, and community spirit. While his absence is deeply felt, his memory will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have known him.

The community remains united in its grief and determination to honor Dwayne’s legacy by advocating for safer streets and justice for all victims of hit-and-run incidents.
