Waycross, GA - The tragic passing of Joseph Strong has cast a shadow of sorrow over the tight-knit community of Waycross, Georgia. Born and raised in the heart of this small town, Joseph's untimely death on Tuesday, April 16th, 2024, marks the end of a prolonged battle stemming from a severe brain injury sustained at a party in 2019.
The heart-wrenching saga began six years ago when Joseph Manning, then just 15 years old, clandestinely slipped out of his family home to join a New Year's Eve gathering nearby. Unbeknownst to his mother, Tatum Thrift Walker, Joseph embarked on what was meant to be a night of youthful revelry, never foreseeing the tragic turn events would take.
Eyewitness accounts from that fateful night recount Joseph's fall from the top of a two-story barn shortly after midnight on January 1st, 2019. Shockingly, it wasn't until nearly 14 hours later that anyone summoned aid for the gravely injured teenager, leaving the community bewildered and grieving.
In the quest for justice and closure, one arrest was made in connection to the incident. Ginger Oxford, the mother of a teenager hosting the ill-fated gathering, faced charges of cruelty to children for her failure to promptly seek medical assistance for Joseph.
Following a trial in 2023, Oxford pleaded guilty to the charges and is currently serving a sentence behind bars. However, the void left by Joseph's passing lingers, and the community remains haunted by unanswered questions surrounding the events of that tragic night.
