Renowned radio personality Brian Adams, affectionately known as Slacker, who graced the airwaves of Kansas City for more than thirty years, passed away on April 16, 2024, after battling complications from cancer.
His home station, 101 The Fox, confirmed the sad news, revealing that Slacker succumbed to acute myeloid leukemia, a rare and severe form of blood cancer.
Slacker's journey with leukemia began when he announced a break from his on-air duties in August to undergo chemotherapy, following his diagnosis in July. Despite his health struggles, he made a triumphant return to the station on December 11, only to share his decision to retire during the February 26 broadcast.
In a heartfelt message on the fundraising platform Caring Bridge, his family shared that Slacker transitioned to hospice care on March 25, with his final broadcast airing on March 22, marking the end of an era for his devoted listeners and colleagues alike.
