The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), Texas Ranger Division, is continuing its investigation into the shocking incident that occurred on Friday, April 12, 2024, at the DPS Driver License Office in Brenham, Texas, situated at 975 U.S. Highway 290.
The perpetrator, identified as 42-year-old Clenard Parker from Chapel Hill, is currently detained in the Washington County Jail. Parker faces multiple charges including three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon causing serious bodily injury, one count of evading arrest or detention causing serious bodily injury, and one count of unauthorized use of a vehicle.
The harrowing event resulted in six individuals sustaining injuries, with tragically one fatality. Bobby Huff, aged 78, was airlifted to CHI St. Joseph Regional Hospital – Bryan, where he tragically succumbed to his injuries on the day of the incident.
Presently, two victims remain in critical but stable condition as they receive medical care. The investigation remains active and ongoing, led by the Texas Rangers. No further details are available for release at this time as authorities work diligently to uncover all pertinent information.
In light of the incident, the Brenham Driver License Office will remain closed for an unspecified duration. Alternative offices are available for customers in Bryan, Hempstead, and Caldwell. Those with scheduled appointments at the Brenham Office will be personally contacted by the DPS Driver License Division to make alternative arrangements.
