Obituary, Jah’Quih Pledger Death: Health and Physical Education Teacher Jah’Quih Pledger Among Victims in Apalachee High School Shooting as Suspect Colt Gray, 14, Faces Murder Charges

Obituary for Jah’Quih PledgerJah’Quih Pledger, a beloved Health and Physical Education teacher at Apalachee High School, tragically passed away on September 3, 2024, at the age of 32, following a devastating shooting incident at the school. 

Known for his unwavering dedication to his students, Pledger’s loss has left a deep void in the hearts of his family, friends, colleagues, and the entire school community.

Born on June 15, 1992, in Winder, Georgia, Jah’Quih grew up with a passion for sports and education. He graduated from Georgia State University with a degree in Health and Physical Education and quickly found his calling as a teacher. 

For over eight years, he served as a mentor, role model, and coach, positively influencing the lives of countless students at Apalachee High School. His enthusiastic approach to teaching, combined with his genuine care for the well-being of his students, made him an irreplaceable figure at the school.

Outside of the classroom, Jah’Quih was an active member of the community. He volunteered in youth sports programs and worked with local charities, always seeking ways to give back. 

His infectious energy, warm smile, and ability to connect with people from all walks of life earned him the admiration and respect of everyone who knew him.

Jah’Quih’s life was cut short in a senseless act of violence when a 14-year-old student, Colt Gray, opened fire at Apalachee High School. The tragic incident shocked the community and led to Colt Gray being charged with murder. 

Jah’Quih’s death serves as a painful reminder of the importance of addressing issues of violence in schools and ensuring the safety of students and teachers alike.

He is survived by his parents, siblings, extended family, and the many students whose lives he touched. A memorial service will be held at Apalachee High School on September 9, 2024, to celebrate Jah’Quih’s life and honor his enduring legacy. His family and loved ones request privacy as they navigate this difficult time.
