Craven County Shooting: 45-Year-Old David Jenkins Fatally Shot, Neighbor Orlando Campbell Charged with Murder

A tragic incident unfolded in Craven County on August 11th, 2024, when 45-year-old David Jenkins was fatally shot by his neighbor, Orlando Campbell. The shooting, which occurred in the usually peaceful neighborhood of James City, North Carolina, has left the community in shock and mourning.

David Jenkins was well-known and well-liked within the community, described by neighbors as a kind and hardworking individual. 

He was often seen lending a hand to others, whether it was helping with home repairs or simply sharing a friendly conversation. His sudden and violent death has left a void in the lives of those who knew him.

According to reports, the shooting was the result of an escalating dispute between Jenkins and Campbell, who had been neighbors for several years. While the exact details of the disagreement remain unclear, it is believed that tensions between the two had been brewing for some time. 

On the day of the incident, the argument between the two men turned deadly, culminating in Campbell allegedly shooting Jenkins multiple times in front of his own home.

Campbell, who has since been charged with first-degree murder. He is currently being held without bond, and his first court appearance is scheduled for later this week.

The community has been left reeling from the tragedy, with many struggling to comprehend how such a senseless act of violence could occur. Friends and family of David Jenkins have expressed their deep grief, remembering him as a devoted father and a good neighbor.
