Chase C. Yarns, 26, of Clarks Summit, passed away Monday morning, leaving behind a legacy of love, dedication, and faith.
Born in 1998 at CMC in Scranton, Chase was one of the first set of quadruplets born in Northeastern Pennsylvania. He was the beloved son of Amy and Chief Christopher Yarns. Growing up in Clarks Summit, Chase developed a strong bond with his family, who remember him as a loving and caring son, brother, and uncle.
A graduate of Abington Heights High School in 2016, Chase was an active member of the cross-country and track and field teams. His athletic spirit continued beyond high school as he completed the Steamtown Marathon in 2022.
Chase pursued higher education with fervor, graduating with high honors from Word of Life Bible Institute in Pottersville, NY, and Clarks Summit University in Clarks Summit, PA, achieving a perfect 4.0 GPA at both institutions.
Chase's deep faith was a cornerstone of his life. Raised at Hickory Street Presbyterian Church in Scranton, he later became an active member of Steamtown Church in Scranton and Hawthorne Gospel Church in Hawthorne, NJ. His faith inspired him to help others, joining various clubs and organizations dedicated to community service.
Chase's love for the outdoors was evident in his frequent run/hikes and travels. He was also a self-taught guitarist, showcasing his passion for music. His infectious smile, laugh, sense of humor, and quick wit brought joy to everyone around him. Chase's love for people and life was evident in all he did, from his academic achievements to his personal hobbies and community service.
Chase is survived by his parents, Amy and Christopher Yarns of Clarks Summit, PA; his siblings, Blaise Schultheis (Brittany) of River Vale, NJ; Ross Schultheis (Sabrina Laytos) of Scranton, PA; Tiana Salerno (Eric) of Clawson, MI; Rhys Yarns of Clarks Summit, PA; Trey Yarns (fiancée Dagny Rippon) of Bloomington, IN; and "His Person" Paige Porro of Wood-Ridge, NJ.
He is also survived by his nephew Hudson Schultheis, River Vale, NJ, along with many beloved aunts, uncles, and cousins. Chase was preceded in death by his grandparents, Carol and Donald Jenkins and Marie Russell.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Steamtown Church, 1511 Pittston Ave. Scranton, PA 18505, or Scranton Counseling Center, 329 Cherry St. Scranton, PA 18505. A funeral service to celebrate Chase's life will be held on Saturday at 1 pm at Clarks Summit United Methodist Church, 1310 Morgan Highway, Clarks Summit. Friends and family may pay their respects from 11 am until the time of the service.
