At the age of 20, this college sophomore and valued member of the dance team was diagnosed with osteosarcoma last June, just weeks after discovering a few lumps and swollen lymph nodes, according to a GoFundMe page dedicated to her journey.

Despite her illness, Kate remained dedicated to her studies as a nursing student, setting an inspiring example for her peers by continuing her academic pursuits even during cancer treatments, as highlighted by Sandy Bell, the university's executive associate athletics director.

Head coach Dawn Walters fondly remembers Kate as a cherished teammate, describing her as a beacon of positivity whose smile could illuminate any room. Kate's passing has deeply saddened the entire team, with Coach Walters acknowledging her courageous fight against osteosarcoma and praising her unwavering bravery until the end.

In the fall of 2023, Kate joined the dance team alongside her twin sister Abbey, further solidifying her impact on the university's community. Sports photographer Mont Dawson shared heartfelt photos of Kate on Facebook, hoping to provide solace and fond memories to her grieving family.

Kate's friend, Sydney Lanham, reflected on her remarkable drive and dedication amidst her busy schedule, noting that Kate never faltered in her commitment to excellence.
