Haryana student killed in the UK:A devastating tragedy has shaken the Indian diaspora and the community back home in Haryana after the fatal stabbing of 30‑year‑old student Vijay Kumar Sheoran in Worcester, United Kingdom. According to West Mercia Police, officers discovered Vijay — originally from Jagrambas village in Haryana’s Charkhi

Dadri district — early on November 25 on Barbourne Road around 4:15 a.m., suffering serious injuries. He was rushed to hospital but succumbed to his wounds later that same day.Vijay’s decision to study abroad followed his resignation earlier this year from a post with the Central Board of Excise and Customs in India. He was reportedly enrolled at the University of the West of 

England (UWE), Bristol, pursuing higher studies at the time of the attack.In response to the attack, police detained six suspects. Five men, aged between 22 and 35, were arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, and a sixth on suspicion of murder. As the investigation continues, the five have now been released on bail, while the sixth has been released with no charges. 

Back in Charkhi Dadri, sorrow and outrage have erupted. Local legislator Sunil Satpal Sangwan expressed deep shock at what he termeda “brutal stabbing incident,” urging the Indian government to intervene promptly. He called for support to the grieving family including repatriation of Vijay’s mortal remains, and demanded a transparent, time-bound investigation to ensure justice is served. 

Vijay’s family, meanwhile, have appealed for diplomatic help, highlighting the difficulties of handling formalities, paperwork, and the cost of repatriation from abroad. His sudden and violent death has amplified growing concerns about the safety and security of international students studying abroad. As the probe continues, both the Indian community overseas and those at home await answers — and hope for justice for Vijay.
