The incident unfolded during what was supposed to be a peaceful fraternity gathering organized by members of Kappa Alpha Psi. Witnesses say the event had drawn dozens of fraternity brothers, family, and friends for an evening of fellowship and celebration when chaos suddenly erupted.According to police reports, Justin Minnitee approached the crowd and, without warning, opened fire. 

Anthony Pearson was fatally struck in the initial moments of the shooting. Bystanders, some of whom were legally armed, quickly intervened. In an exchange of gunfire, Minnitee was shot and later died at the scene.Emergency personnel responded swiftly, but Pearson was pronounced dead despite life-saving efforts. No additional injuries were reported, though several witnesses were treated for shock.

Anthony Pearson was widely known and respected within the Kappa Alpha Psi fraternity and the broader Atlanta community. His death has left fraternity brothers and loved ones devastated. "Anthony was a brother’s brother—kind, committed, and full of integrity," one fraternity member said. "This loss is beyond words."Police are continuing to investigate the motive behind the attack. 

Authorities have not confirmed whether Minnitee had a direct connection to Pearson or the event itself. Community leaders and fraternity officials have urged the public to avoid speculation while investigations proceed.The fraternity released a statement expressing deep sorrow and pledging support to Pearson’s family while honoring his legacy.Counseling and grief support services have been made available to all those impacted by the traumatic event.
