Haley, 39, passed away unexpectedly on Friday due to an acute medical event, as confirmed by Scarborough Fire Chief Rich Kindelan .Throughout her career, Haley was known for her professionalism, compassion, and unwavering commitment to public service. 

She previously served with Buxton Fire & Rescue and the Town of Windham, Maine, and contributed to training future first responders through her role at Southern Maine Community College .A graduate of Oakmont Regional High School, Haley's dedication to helping others was evident from an early age. Her colleagues admired her courage and reliability, while her friends and family cherished her loyalty and infectious spirit .

Haley's unexpected passing leaves a profound void in the lives of all who knew her. She will be remembered for her unwavering commitment to service, her generous heart, and the many lives she touched throughout her career. As her loved ones grieve this tragic loss, they also celebrate the legacy of a woman who truly embodied the spirit of community, dedication, and heroism.

For those wishing to honor Lieutenant Shannon Haley's memory, the Scarborough Fire Department has announced that a public memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 10, at 2:00 PM at the Scarborough High School Auditorium. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Maine Firefighters Memorial Fund.
