HAMILTON, N.Y. — The Hamilton Central School community is reeling from the tragic and untimely passing of Isadora “Izzy” Catania, a beloved student and standout athlete who passed away suddenly, leaving a deep void in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Izzy, known for her infectious smile, kind spirit, and unwavering determination, was a shining light in the hallways of Hamilton Central. A well-rounded student, she excelled both in the classroom and on the athletic field. Whether it was on the soccer pitch, basketball court, or track, Izzy’s competitive drive and team-first mentality set her apart. 

Her coaches often praised her not only for her athleticism but for the leadership and sportsmanship she brought to every game and practice.Beyond her accomplishments, Izzy was a loyal friend, a devoted sister and daughter, and a source of positivity to all who crossed her path. 

Her compassion, sense of humor, and ability to lift others up made her a cherished presence in the school community. Teachers, classmates, and teammates alike remember her as someone who led by example—hardworking, humble, and always ready to help others.

The shock of her sudden passing has left the Hamilton community in mourning. Grief counselors and support staff have been made available at the school to help students and staff process the devastating loss. A memorial vigil is being planned, where students, teachers, and families will gather to honor Izzy’s memory and the lasting impact she made.
