Nadia Flett-Carriere Murder-Suicide Winnipeg: God’s Lake First Nation member and Winnipeg man identified as parties involved in domestic-related murder-suicide on Sherburn Street lives of two people in the city’s West End on Monday afternoon.

Nadia Flett-Carriere Murder-Suicide, Winnipeg: God’s Lake First Nation Member and Winnipeg Man Identified Tragedy struck Winnipeg’s West End on Monday afternoon as authorities responded to a domestic-related murder-suicide that claimed the lives of two individuals on Sherburn Street. 

The victims have been identified as 30-year-old Nadia Flett-Carriere, a member of the God’s Lake First Nation, and a 35-year-old Winnipeg man, whose identity has not been formally released by police but is believed to have been in a relationship with Flett-Carriere.Winnipeg Police were called to the 600 block of Sherburn Street around 1:45 p.m. on April 29, 2025, following reports of a serious incident. 

Upon arrival, officers discovered the lifeless bodies of both individuals inside the residence. Investigators have confirmed the case is being treated as a murder-suicide, with early evidence suggesting that Flett-Carriere was the victim of a domestic homicide before the male suspect took his own life.

The incident has left the community shaken, with many expressing sorrow and outrage at the loss of a young Indigenous woman to domestic violence. Flett-Carriere was known among her peers and family as a loving mother, a vibrant spirit, and a proud member of her First Nation. Friends described her as someone who brought light into every room and worked hard to overcome life’s challenges.

The God’s Lake First Nation leadership has issued a statement mourning her loss and calling for urgent action to address the ongoing crisis of violence against Indigenous women. The case underscores the continued need for resources, support services, and public awareness regarding intimate partner violence.

Winnipeg Police Service’s Homicide Unit is leading the investigation and continues to urge anyone with information to come forward. Grief support and victim services have been made available to those impacted by the tragedy.
