Three people found dead in a Scottsdale home on Wednesday in an apparent murder-suicide were identified Friday by authorities.

Authorities have identified the three individuals found deceased in a Scottsdale home on Wednesday in what appears to be a murder-suicide. The deceased are 48-year-old Russell Gilman, his wife, 45-year-old Stacey Gilman, and their two sons, a 7-year-old and a 3-year-old. 

Concerned family members requested a welfare check on Thursday afternoon, leading Scottsdale police to discover the bodies inside the residence on East Sharon Drive. Investigators believe that Russell Gilman fatally shot his wife and children before turning the gun on himself. A weapon and a note were found at the scene, suggesting a premeditated act. 

Tragically, this incident is not isolated. In November 2017, Jason and Anne Fairbanks, both 39, along with their 3-year-old daughter and 9-month-old son, were found dead in their Scottsdale home in a similar murder-suicide scenario. Investigations revealed that Jason Fairbanks shot his family before taking his own life, with financial struggles cited as a potential motive. 

Similarly, in April 2021, 36-year-old Royce Dale Lillard III was suspected of fatally shooting his wife, 28-year-old Molly Elizabeth Lillard, outside their Scottsdale home before barricading himself inside and ultimately dying from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Their 8-month-old child was present during the incident but was unharmed. 

These heartbreaking events underscore the critical importance of mental health awareness and the need for accessible support systems.
