Bryce Andrew Gerlach, an 18-year-old senior at Corydon Central High School and a beloved member of the school’s football team, tragically lost his life in a devastating shooting at New Albany’s Harvest Homecoming Festival. Born in Corydon, Indiana, Bryce was known not only for his athleticism but also for his kind heart, loyalty to his friends and family, and infectious enthusiasm for life. 

As a standout football player for the Corydon Central Panthers, Bryce was admired for his leadership on and off the field, often inspiring his teammates with his work ethic and dedication.

On the night of the festival, what should have been a joyful community event was marred by violence when gunfire erupted, 

claiming Bryce’s life and leaving two others injured. He was tragically caught in the crossfire, an innocent bystander in a moment of senseless chaos. 

His sudden death has sent shockwaves through the Corydon and New Albany communities, leaving friends, family, teammates, and classmates devastated by the loss of such a promising young life.

Bryce’s impact extended far beyond the football field. Known for his kind spirit, infectious laughter, and love for those around him, Bryce made an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. 

His family, teammates, and coaches remember him as a dedicated and caring individual who always gave his all, whether in sports or in life. His dream of pursuing a college education and continuing his football career was tragically cut short.
