The Des Moines community is reeling from the tragic loss of 21-year-old Tariq Reynolds, who was senselessly shot and killed in a violent incident on South Union Street. Tariq Reynolds was known to all as a kind-hearted and ambitious individual. Born and raised in Des Moines, he had a bright future ahead of him. He was a graduate of Des Moines East High School, where he excelled academically and athletically. 

Tariq had a passion for basketball and played for his high school team, earning the respect of his coaches and teammates for his dedication and sportsmanship. Beyond his athletic talents, Tariq was also deeply involved in his community, often volunteering at local events and mentoring younger kids in the neighborhood.

After high school, Tariq began working to support his family while pursuing his dream of starting a business. He had a natural entrepreneurial spirit and was determined to create a better life for himself and those he loved. 

His friends and family describe him as a loyal friend, a loving son, and a role model to many. Tariq had a warm smile that could light up a room, and he was always the first to offer a helping hand to those in need.

The circumstances surrounding Tariq’s death have left many in shock and disbelief. On that fateful night, what should have been a normal evening turned into a nightmare as gunfire erupted on South Union Street.
