The 71-year-old man hospitalised following last week's fire on Orth Street in Kingswood has passed away.

The community of Kingswood is mourning the loss of a 71-year-old man who tragically passed away after being hospitalized following last week's devastating fire on Orth Street.

The fire, which erupted in the early hours of the morning, engulfed the man’s home, leaving him with severe injuries that ultimately proved fatal. His death marks a heartbreaking conclusion to an already tragic event, casting a pall of sorrow over the neighborhood.

The fire, which quickly spread through the residence, prompted an immediate and intense response from local fire crews. Despite their swift arrival and valiant efforts to control the blaze, the damage had already been done.

The elderly man was found inside the home, severely affected by smoke inhalation and burns. He was rushed to the hospital in critical condition, where he fought for his life in the days that followed. Sadly, despite the best efforts of medical professionals, he succumbed to his injuries.

The loss has been felt deeply by the residents of Orth Street and the broader Kingswood community. Neighbors remember the 71-year-old as a quiet, kind man who had lived in the area for many years.

He was known for his friendly demeanor and was a familiar face to those who passed by his home daily. His sudden and tragic death has left many in shock, struggling to come to terms with the loss of someone who had been a part of their community for so long.

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of the fire, though early reports suggest that it may have been accidental. The incident serves as a sobering reminder of the dangers of residential fires and the devastating impact they can have on lives.

As the community grieves, there are plans to hold a memorial service to honor his memory, allowing friends, neighbors, and loved ones to pay their respects and remember the life of a man whose presence will be sorely missed.
