Rakim Akbari Death, Orlando, FL: Missing Autistic Toddler Found Dead After Drowning at Orlando Resort Near Walt Disney World

Rakim Akbari, a 3-year-old autistic toddler from Orlando, Florida, was found dead on July 16, 2024, after drowning in a tragic incident at a resort near Walt Disney World.

 The news of his death has deeply saddened the community and highlighted the ongoing need for heightened vigilance and safety measures for young children, particularly those with special needs.

Rakim, who was born on April 5, 2021, was described by his family as a joyful and affectionate child with a love for exploring his surroundings. His bright eyes and cheerful disposition endeared him to everyone who met him.

 Diagnosed with autism, Rakim’s family had been diligent about ensuring his safety and providing him with a nurturing environment. They were described as devoted parents who worked tirelessly to support their son’s unique needs.

The tragic event occurred while the family was vacationing at a resort near Walt Disney World, a popular destination known for its family-friendly atmosphere. According to reports, Rakim went missing during a period of unsupervised play. Despite immediate efforts by his parents and resort staff to locate him, Rakim was later found submerged in the resort’s swimming pool.

Emergency responders arrived promptly, but despite their best efforts, they were unable to revive him. The incident has prompted an outpouring of grief and support from the local community and beyond. 

Friends, family, and concerned residents have come together to offer condolences and support to Rakim’s parents, Jamal and Latoya Akbari, during this incredibly difficult time.
