Jake Baker Slippery Rock Football Death : Jake Baker Obituary - Native Of Thurmont, Maryland Has Died

Slippery Rock University, its Athletics Department, and The Rock football team are deeply saddened to announce the sudden passing of football student-athlete Jake Baker, who died on Thursday. Jake was a remarkable student, a dedicated teammate, and a beloved member of our Rock football family. His loss leaves a significant void in the community.

Jake Baker, originally from Thurmont, Maryland, joined Slippery Rock University in the fall of 2023, transferring from Towson. During his first season with The Rock, he made notable contributions on the field as a defensive end, appearing in eight games. His efforts were instrumental in helping the team secure the 2023 PSAC West title and advance to the NCAA Division II Quarterfinals.

Beyond his athletic prowess, Jake was also an exemplary student. He majored in marketing and was recognized for his academic achievements with PSAC Scholar-Athlete honors. Before transferring to Slippery Rock, Jake began his college career at Clarion University in 2021, where he was a consistent presence on the Dean's List.
