The Ottawa Police Service Homicide Unit has charged 18-year-old Ibrahim OCAL, of Ottawa, with first-degree murder in connection with the stabbing death of a 15-year-old youth, Ellis Smith, in the 100 block of Constellation Drive on May 2nd.
Originally charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon by the Criminal Investigations Section, OCAL now faces the more serious charge of first-degree murder. He is scheduled to appear in court on May 8th.
Smith tragically succumbed to his injuries on May 4th. The family has asked for privacy during this difficult time as they grieve the loss of their loved one.
