It's with great sadness to announce that Rony Garcia, a Minor League Baseball player, has tragically passed away. He, along with his father, died in a car accident on Friday, April 19, 2024.


Rony Javier García, born on December 19, 1997, was a Dominican professional baseball pitcher. He made his Major League Baseball (MLB) debut in 2020 with the Detroit Tigers. García signed with the New York Yankees as an international free agent on July 2, 2015. Throughout his career, he played for various teams including the DSL Yankees, GCL Yankees, Pulaski Yankees, Charleston RiverDogs, Tampa Tarpons, and Trenton Thunder.

On December 12, 2019, García was selected by the Detroit Tigers in the 2019 Rule 5 draft. He made his major league debut on July 28, 2020, with the Tigers. During the 2020 season, García appeared in 15 games, recording a 1–0 record with an ERA of 8.14 and 14 strikeouts in 21 innings pitched.
