Marshella Chidester Monroe MI Arrested After Swan Boat Club Accident That Killed 2 and Injured 15 Others

Two children tragically lost their lives, and 15 people suffered injuries when a woman drove her car into a child's birthday party, as announced by Sheriff Troy Goodnough in a press conference held Saturday evening. The victims included siblings, an 8-year-old girl, and a 5-year-old boy, who were pronounced dead at the scene, according to police reports.



The incident occurred around 3 p.m. when a woman drove her vehicle through a wall of the Swan Boat Club in Monroe County, Michigan, ultimately coming to a halt 25 feet inside, authorities stated.

Emergency responders provided aid to the 15 victims at the scene. Nine of them were rushed to local hospitals – either by ambulance or helicopter – with serious, life-threatening injuries. Among those transported, three were children, and six were adults. Additional individuals injured in the accident were taken to hospitals by private vehicles, as mentioned by the sheriff.

The suspect, identified as 66-year-old Marshella Chidester, was apprehended at the scene and is currently detained at Monroe County Jail on suspicion of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, causing death.

The community is mourning the loss of the two young siblings and offering support to the injured and their families. Local authorities are investigating the incident to determine the exact circumstances and factors leading to the tragedy.
