Crystal Mall Suicide : Person Jumps To Death At 6088 Willlingdon Avenue In Burnaby

Burnaby's Crystal Mall was the site of a tragic incident on Saturday, April 27th, 2024, as a person died by suicide, jumping from the building. The large emergency response in the area was initially reported as a "medical emergency," as confirmed by Burnaby RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Mike Kalanj.

The incident occurred around 1:11 p.m. on the 6000 block of Willingdon Avenue. While there is no indication of criminality involved, the response required a significant presence from emergency crews. Kalanj stated, "At this time there does not appear to be any criminality; however, emergency crews may remain on scene for the next couple of hours."

Witnesses reported seeing eight emergency vehicles at the scene, with the area cordoned off with police tape. The nature of the incident and the identity of the individual involved have not been disclosed at this time.
