The impact of the gunfire caused the car to swerve off the road and crash into a patch of grass. First responders arrived within minutes to find three wounded individuals inside. Kiprono and Ashley were pronounced dead at the scene; the third victim, identity unconfirmed, was transported alive but in serious condition. Autopsies have been ordered by the Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office for both deceased males.

Investigators believe the shots came either from another moving vehicle or from a concealed roadside position near East Preston Avenue, though the exact origin remains under active investigation.

The barrage of bullets tore through the car in seconds. Kiprono, struck by gunfire while driving, lost control of the vehicle, causing it to veer off the roadway and crash into a grassy area just feet from the riverbank. Passing motorists called 911 immediately, and first responders arrived within minutes to a scene that told its own horrifying story: 

shattered glass, bullet holes, and three seriously wounded individuals trapped inside the crumpled Uber.Kiprono and Ashley were both pronounced dead at the scene, their fatal injuries leaving no chance for revival. A third occupant—whose identity has not yet been released—was found alive but in critical condition and was rushed to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. 

Authorities have not confirmed whether the third victim was another Uber passenger or someone else associated with the vehicle.The **Caddo Parish Coroner’s Office** has ordered autopsies for both deceased males, a process that will help determine the trajectory of the bullets, the extent of injuries, and possibly provide clues about the shooter’s position. 

Meanwhile, Shreveport police are reviewing surveillance footage, collecting shell casings, and interviewing potential witnesses as they search for the suspect or suspects responsible for the attack.What began as a simple rideshare trip has now become a homicide investigation, one that leaves two families grieving and a community reeling from yet another act of sudden and senseless violence.
