Detective Sergeant Cody Becker, Detective Isaiah Emenheiser and Detective Mark Baker were killed after gunfire erupted while officers attempted to serve a warrant at a York County farm on September 18, 2025. York County is mourning the devastating loss of three detectives after a warrant service turned deadly on September 18, 2025. Authorities confirmed that Detective Sergeant Cody Becker, Detective Isaiah Emenheiser, and Detective Mark Baker were killed when gunfire erupted at a farm in North Codorus Township. In addition, two other officers were critically

injured and remain hospitalized at WellSpan York Hospital, where officials say their conditions are stable but closely monitored.Pennsylvania State Police and the York County District Attorney’s Office provided updates in the aftermath of the tragedy. District Attorney Tim Barker identified the suspect as 24-year-old Matthew J. 

Ruth, though he emphasized that moving forward, he would refer to him as “the actor” in official statements. Ruth was killed in the exchange of gunfire, bringing the immediate threat to an end but leaving behind a trail of devastation.
The Northern York County Regional Police Department, deeply shaken by the loss of its members, has closed its administrative offices to allow time for officers and staff to grieve. 

They issued a statement requesting that the community keep the fallen officers, the wounded, and their families in their thoughts and prayers. Neighboring police agencies and the Pennsylvania State Police have stepped in to provide operational support while the department copes with the tragedy.Vigils and memorials are already being planned across York County as residents seek ways to honor the lives of Becker, Emenheiser, and Baker.
