It is with deep sorrow that we share the tragic news that Major Maciej “SLAB” Krakowian, pilot of the Polish Air Force F-16 Tiger Demo Team, lost his life this afternoon during rehearsal for the Radom International Airshow.

It is with profound sadness that Poland and the international aviation community are mourning the sudden loss of Major Maciej “SLAB” Krakowian, a highly respected pilot with the Polish Air Force and a member of the renowned F-16 Tiger Demo Team. The tragedy occurred this afternoon during a rehearsal flight for the upcoming Radom International Airshow, an event that annually draws thousands of aviation enthusiasts from across the world.

According to official reports, Major Krakowian was executing a practice maneuver in his F-16 fighter jet when the rehearsal ended in disaster. Despite immediate emergency response from ground crews and rescue services on standby at the airfield, efforts to save his life were unsuccessful. Authorities have confirmed his death, and an investigation into the precise cause of the accident is now underway.

Major Krakowian, known by his callsign “SLAB,” was celebrated not only for his technical skill and daring aerial displays but also for his dedication to representing Poland on the global stage. He had performed across Europe, earning admiration for his professionalism, precision, and the pride he carried for the Polish Air Force. 

Colleagues described him as an extraordinary pilot and a mentor to younger aviators, someone who combined fearlessness in the air with humility on the ground.The Radom International Airshow organizers have expressed their deepest condolences to his family, friends, and fellow servicemembers, calling the loss “a devastating blow to the airshow family and the entire aviation world.”
